Quotes From the DNC

If there was ever any doubt about whether LGBT support would be an underlying thread during last week's televised Democratic National Convention, one needed only to check out the packed parade of gay-friendly politicos, many of whom professed their allegiance to a national audience by way of Denver, CO.
But, more importantly, direct messages of hope and equality were proudly cited day in and day out:
--From ailing but still dynamic Sen. Ted Kennedy: "Barack Obama will close the book on the old politics of race and gender and group against group and straight against gay."
--From former President Bill Clinton: "The values of freedom and equal opportunity, which have given him his historic chance, will drive him as president to give all Americans—regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability—their chance to build a decent life and to show our humanity, as well as our strengths, to the world."
--Sen. Hillary "No way. No how. No McCain" Clinton: "(We want) to fight for an America defined by deep and meaningful equality—from civil rights to labor rights, from women's rights to gay rights."
--But it was presidential nominee Barack Obama himself who delivered the ultimate message before more than 80,000 in Denver and a worldwide audience of 38 million. "I know there are differences on same-sex marriage, but surely we can agree that our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters deserve to visit the person they love in a hospital, and to live lives free of discrimination."
